Tape Storage Technology

60% of the world's data (according to some reputable estimates) is stored on tape and, despite predictions of its imminent demise, tape data storage seems to keep developing and providing a good long term archival platform for data storage. Although spoken of as if it is a single entity, tape is actually the umbrella name for a diverse range of data storage technologies some of which are described in more detail here.
